Is there any good rap artists these days? Or do they all suck?
With artists like "lil wayne" and souja boy I'm frightened to think of what the futrue of hip hop and rap has in store. My cousin who's a hip-hop rap fanatic even said rap music sucks. I couldn't believe it. i'm starting to wonder when rap will ever be decent again? Does anyone else think today's rap artists are not up to par?

- To me, rap music is all the same now. It's either about sex, drugs, money, murder, hate. It's not really what it used to be. My brother, who is also an avid rap listener, has said that rap music today is not what it used to be.
- since when was lil wayne and Soulja boy Hip hop.. more like hip pop listen to some MURS and 9th wonder.. 3:16, the 9th edition and Murrays Revenge are SICK albums
- listen to underground theres alot of good rappers underground
- I believe rap music is really starting to lose it's content. There has not been many major releases of true hip hop or good rap music. Recently Nas has put out some very controversial material including his song and video "Be a Nigger Too", which I do happen to like to a certain extent. If you are into hip hop shows, the Rock the Bells tour will be beginning soon which will include pioneers like Method Man, Rakim, Slick Rock and many others.
- there are some out there who still are real.. Nas MURS Jay Kanye West is good Lupe Fiasco Tech N9ne Blu Bishop Lamont Bun B Common Sense alot more...
- yes! absolutely rap is dead!! hip hop is beautiful and i love it so much but it is becoming an ugly ebrassive kind of music that imnot down for at all!! i miss the way it used to be with lyricist telling you a story through a microphone instead of a niggaar telling you how much money he has..
- they all suck, I just heard a song by Lil Mama,Chirs Brown, and T-Pain that sounded like they actually put some effort into the lyrics and the way it was delivered,it wasnt the same ol half-azz lyrics and songs, but I hate them all, but they get props on this one.

- The rap genre isn't lacking in skill or talent. What has happened is that genuinely talented and unique rappers have been pushed out of the mainstream and off the airwaves by commercialized and easy to digest pop rap songs. You can still find many good rappers, it just takes a lot more effort than it used to. A lot of the underground rappers provided in other answers have serious skills and creativity. Amongst popular and more mainstream rappers I feel that Lupe Fiasco is still genuinely talented. Also, we can always wait on the next Nas or Jay-z album. (If their not retired)
