Pure Rap

I am throwing a hip-hop party. How should I organize my rap albums according to time period?

I thought of organizing my rap albums into crates. One crate is for the classics, one is for just-plain old-school rap, one is for the mid-school (rap that doesn't fit within the old- or new-schools), and the last is for the new-school. I've thought about organizing my crates as this: Pre-1986 albums would be in the Classics bin. 1986-1994 albums would be in the Old-School bin. 1994-1996 albums would be in the Mid-School bin, and post-1996 albums would be considered New-School. I may be wrong. Please give me suggestions. * Note: There will be asinine comments or rude remarks, please. Comments such as "Rap sucks" or "You are stupid and know nothing about hip-hop" will not be tolerated. I want clean, intelligent comments, and violators will be flagged. Thank you. *

  1. from lightest to darkest skin color
  2. no i would switch it up through the night.
  3. yes u should but for me there is a difference between rap and hiphop.
  4. sounds fun, but i suggest u mix it up and throught the night though... besides if u noticed, a lot of rappers sample from oldies and old school music too. have fun =)
  5. doesn't sound bad. maybe try by decades if you want it broken down into less categories.
  6. I think this is a good idea as long as you dont play the music in that order during the party, but if you are just doing it to be organize than its fine.As far as playing pre-1986 albums you might not want to play those because they are to old to be playing at a hip hop party! but it also depends on how old your guest are if they are like 13-18then u shouldnt play pre-1986 or anything like that stick with new school becuase they wont like(trust im sixteen and dj try to throw on michael jackson and kris kross and stuff like that and we HATE IT it slows the party down and makes ppl want to leave)..But i Hope you have fun at your party!!! hope it goes great!!!
  7. Thats a good order but you should mix the sections up throughtout the party so you just wont play one section of music at a time
  8. it would take long as hell but what about by record labels
