- nah gangsters will always be gangsters w/ or w/o rap music, its the way ur brought up and ppl u chill w/
- do you ever hear people sayin.."rap made me do it" ...naw.
- Should Scarface the movie take the blame for all the drug dealers. Should King of NY take the blame? Should New jack city take the blame Should the Godfather take the blame? Should Blow take the blame? They are far worst in showing vivid accounts of ill-legal activity then any song i have ever heard. @KK That is because America is based off of Raping and killing. That is what we stand for especially the rape part. you know that though...That's why rockers can yell it out and be proud
- not completly... there was always gangsters in america (Frank Lucas, Al Capone)
- NO! The reason that there is crime in suburban areas is because guns and drugs are being put into those areas. "give em guns, give em drugs, step back watch them kill each other" -tupac, changes. Gangster rappers only rap about how they used to live, so crime is happening before rappers rap about it.
- nope not at all its people who kill people, not the music, or guns or weapons. A gun cannot fire unless someone pulls the trigger and music cannot be blames its an easy out for some.
- Yes. Because all the ghetto kids listen to it and think killing and stealing is cool. Then all the non ghetto kids look up to the ghetto kids and want to do the same things! I blame every single violent act on gangsta rap. But seriously though the media might have an influence, but it cannot be the blame for all the violence in America. We have movies, games, music, books, all kinds of things showing violence. The media just use gangsta rap as a scapegoat. EDIT: All the thumbs down just showing how much people don't fully read an answer. Anyway I love hip hop to death, but you cannot sit here and not think that gangsta rap doesn't have any negative influence (Especially on young teens) minds. In the same respect we can blame movies and everything else. I do think gangsta rap has more of an influence sometimes because some people listen to it way more than watching a movie or reading a book. Also SOME people use the lyrics as a blueprint to how they should act and be. What baffles me most about both sides of the arguement is that they don't see the other side. I am pro hip hop, but you have to look at both sides. It is by no means the cause of all violence and some people would have acted like that anyway. Better parenting could alleviate the issue not just with gangsta rap, but all negative media in general.
- No, not even close. Oh, what's this? A song is coming to me. I see, country artist Blake Shelton, and his song "Ol' Red" where at the very beginning of the song he kills his wife and another man. Then he the rest of the song he talks about how he escapes from prison by fooling "Ol' Red." No more or less gangster than gangster rap if you ask me. If anyone manages to change your mind, then it is false and you've been brain washed. News, television in general, even "kids" cartoons; bad parenting, bad schooling, bad food, are all to blame. We're a nation of "we want it now, not later." And if we don't get what we want, then who knows what mentality we'll fall into. We get easily desensitized, especially to other people's feelings. Most people have a good head on their shoulders, but there are a few that fall into a rabbit hole they never should have.
- no gangsta rap is not the blame for violence in america. americans are responsible for the violence, if parents paid more attention to their children and raised them the correct way, then maybe there wouldn' t be such a increase in violent crimes.but until that happens society, will try to find a scapegoat, and being that gangsta rap or hiphop music, visualizes on the negative and not the positive, it will always be offered as a factor.
- The kids only copy what they see on tv and radio.
- obviously the answer is no, how about the metal screaming bs that shyt is telling kids go kill and rape. I still have no idea how no body is talkin about that shyt, instead they talk about rappers who just telling what goes on in their life.
- if anything rock should be to blame, all it does is tell you to kill, cut, and hate yourself
- Come on! Sure rappers have effect on violence. Not all rap but rap songs about violence and that. Ok take the song "You dont know" by Eminem and 50 cent. Some of the lyrics are: "Pistol play ricochet, see where the victim lay Slumped over bleeding J.F.K Hays K to your chest plate cave I ride to the death, do you rep that way? Forever ima be a Shady 7-4 gangsta Plus I survive everything you got in that chamber I thrive off of danger, jumpin in all beef You keep talking **** now the squad called me" And ur saying that that doesn't have any effect on any kid who listens to it. Thats like saying "I don't know where my kid get his swearing from" When its the parents who prob swear all the time. If u know what i mean.
- u da police
- Hellz No, there was violence in America waaaay before rap became mainstream. I sure like to know what they were listening to during the Columbus era.
- of course because their was no violence before gangsta rap their was no wars people didn't kill each other oh wait thats right they did well in that case i guess no
- no when people cant admit there wrong they like to blame other people and other things like rap and tv shows
- Not "all" the violence.
- No it shouldn't... Violence was here long before any rap....People CHOOSE to be violent, music can't "make" people do anything.
