Public Comments
- they all out do eachother with their awfulness
- those titles are superfluous and silly. the differences between them are lame attempts at elitism by those involved in the broad genre of rap.
- underground is real and its the best
- Rap-What you hear on the radio Hip-Hop-The movement of rap music or KRS-ONE Gangsta Rap- NWA Underground- rap music thats to smart for you if your asking this question
- Rap and hip hop aren't too different, hip hop can be rap, and rap can be hip hop. Hip hop usually has a higher production value whereas rap can be just rhyming over a beat. Gangsta rap is kind of a throwback term to the days of N.W.A., it refers to rap songs that were about getting drunk, getting high, bucking authority, and having promiscuous dirty sex. Underground hip hop refers to artists that just haven't hit the mainstream, guys like MF Doom, Aesop Rock, and Murs.
- underground hip hop- rap music which mostly doesn't have catchy hooks, its just straight rapping and lyrical content. It hasn't fallen victim to having to be radio friendly or catchy. I really dont like it although underground rap music has more substance. hip hop i guess is more radio friendly popular music. Hip Hop lacks substance. T-pain doesn't necessarily rap or sing put he is in between so he is more hip hop. gangsta rap- content is not really radio friendly, but most critics Label all rap glorifying violence as gangsta rap. But its like gutta music that are lyrically about life in the hood or on the streets.
- Rap - poetry recited to a rhythm with or without music Hip Hop - a whole culture composed of bboying, mcing, djing, graffitti Gangsta Rap - rap that reflects the values and morals of a gangsta rapper underground hip hop - hip hop by artists who don't follow the norm and make music that express themselves and their feelings, also no major record deal
- Rap- the musical genre of hip hop Hip hop- the whole culture G rap- Rap that focused on violence in the streets U rap- rap that isn't controlled by a major label and has more freedome to express themselves.
- Rap = Rhythmic American Poetry (The white man's name for hip-hop) Hip-Hop = The other name for rap Gangsta rap = gang influenced hip-hop Underground hip-hop = Unsigned or independent or just unnoticed rap
- Rap-Usually tends to be the stuff played on public radio, 50 cent, ludacris, Nelly, Snoop dogg stuff like that. IMO, music that is popular because of its media coverage. Hip Hop- Can be the same as rap, but, staying on the topic of radio music, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, etc would fall into this category. They have a sense of meaning to their music. Gangsta Rap- Stuff like Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, I cant really describe it. West Coast Rap. Underground hip hop- Unsigned, not played on public radio, They have a sense of meaning and tell stories in their music, and dont tend to be in it for the money, like rappers such as 50 cent. For a great example, listen to Atmosphere.
