Which do you like better, Positive Rap or Gangsta Rap?
To me it's a hard choice, but overall I think gangsta rap is better.

- I Agree.
- that's hard i can't pick one so i'll go with both
- Gangsta Rap..its way better
- erm...i dont like any rap but if i had to choose i would have to say positive
- I like both, its like comparing main course and desert.
- gangsta rap for me
- as long as i can dance to it
- Yea, i like gangsta rap better. artists from the Westside like Westside Connection, WC, Dj Quick, all that good stuff
- gangster rap definatly positive rap just doesnt sound like rap right??
- depends on the artist..some positive rappers i like more than gangsta, and vice versa
- Being from Los Angeles I pick Gangsta Rap West Coast G-Funk
- That is a really hard question..... it's like you got KRS, Talib, Mos Def, and Common to Cube, Scarface, Pac... it's too hard to answer!!!
- Wow im the only one who thinks positive hip hop is better? Gangsta is overrated and overplayed. We need some originality!
- um... i think its more of the way its done than what it is... for example, tho it is "east coast" rap, a song by Jay Z called "squeeze first" is a GREAT song... lyrically, topically production wise... while the song "i know i can" by Nas (or somethin similar to that), while positive and uplifting, is not very well done. the production is boring and unoriginal, the hook is SO damned annoying and the style was simplistic (tho i do note the likening to Slicc ricc). however you can take "boyz n da hood" by Eazy E and put that up against "its your world" by Common... "boyz" pales in comparison but then its all about what you like and what your from... im from the hood... i like my shood sh!t. period. i can listen to upbeat cute sh!t for a minute... but i always gotta get bacc to my gutter music. not to mention it all depends on what you con positive... as in uplifting talkin about something good, or just not violence and the degradation of women?
- Postive rap.
- The thug mentality is a major contributor to what is wrong in the African American community. A constant promotion of selfishness, idolatry, entitlement, violence, racism, sexism, criminality in every respect...that's what thug rap is, it's satanic propaganda and there is nothing good about it. Positive rap, that rejects the cultural norm is refreshing. read Thomas Sowell
- I like both, but most of the time it's Positive Rap. Gangsta Rap is good when it is done well, and the lyrics are still diverse and original, because it can get pretty repetitive. Sometimes I feel like when I'm listening to Gangsta Rap I've heard it a million other times on different songs. And plus, the message isn't too great. Money, drugs, violence...
- GANGSTA rap , ya dig?
- depends on the mood if i'm mad or hyper- gangsta rap if i'm feeling good and positive- positive rap
- I agree, gangsta rap. it's tha best kinda music to bump 2 in ur car ha ha. Plus, its sumtin ppl from da hood can really relate to, dont get me wrong i like "positive rap" 2
- I would say Positive rap, Gangsta rap is cool sometimes but thats usually when the beat is ill so no more pays attention to the lyrics
- gangsta rap
- Personally at this moment in my life I like Positive Rap over Gangsta Rap, but both are needed...it provides balance. Let's say for instance Saigon...earlier in his career (fresh out of jail), he made nothin but street/gangsta tracks...it's because he was writing about what he's experienced. Now within the past couple of years, he's came out with positive tracks like "The Color Purple" and "Believe It". He's basically made somethin' negative into something positive.
- This is a really hard one...so I cant choose one...I like both, How bout a Positve rapper on a gangsta rap beat...I'll take that one...
- Positive but you can still have street rap which is a bit gangsta but with a message i think that's the one i prefer the most. If I'm pissed off then yeah throw on some Non Phixion or Jedi Mind Tricks. Maybe I'm just getting a bit old LOL.
