im mixed (black/white). i dont like the gold teeth, or sagging pants or rap or hip hop..... am i racist for not liking that style or the guys that go for that style? i also dont really care for ebonics either...or any of that stuff.

Public Comments

  1. no it's not racist; you arent attacking their race, just their style i agree with you; it's ridiculous and dumb
  2. lol of course not i HATE rap and ghetto gangster nonsense it pisses me off
  3. Nope.
  4. Of course it's not racist. You're not saying that you dislike a person's skin colour, you're saying you dislike a style.
  5. nope its not racist
  6. absolutely not. Why would you think that would make you a racist? You're put of by the style not the race.
  7. no, its just your personal preference. there are white guys who dress/act in that way too, so no it is not racist!
  8. no thats not racist, its just being who you are.
  9. No, lol, that doesn't make you racist... it's just not your style
  10. its not racist. im asian and i dont like that either but im not racist. i have black friends (:
  11. nope im live in the ghetto and i don't like the rap or ganster scen e im a latina punker that says a lot right there
  12. You are not racist. Plus that is just a sterotype, not the race itself. So you just deny the common sterotype, good for you. :]
  13. no. thats not racist. not all black people are part of the ghetto subculture.
  14. No you are not. That is your opinion.
  15. No, I don't like it either. It's like saying you don't like the whole scene/emo thing, does that mean you don't like white people? Nope it doesn't. You're fine.
  16. lol youre not racist. i dont like that stuff either. and it you think youre racist about something most of the time you really arent
  17. defiantly not that is just your opinion and you are entitled to it
  18. not racist - it is post-racist If you are afraid to be honest about that style then you are allowing race to dictate to you, which is racist.
  19. No,thats not being racist.Just means your not into that culture.
  20. Not racist. I think that look is ridiculous but each to their own I guess.
  21. NO! You just like different things.
  22. Same here I hate it all. Is it racist for ghetto/gangsta people to be put off by the whole.... um.. normalness? yeah i dont think so, but then again gangstas think everything is racist.
  23. I don't like emo, scene, goth or gangsta and I don't see myself as a racist one bit.
  24. no i dont like it either and im black i think it really recks our image and makes us look bad we need to throw all of that stuff away and refer back to our real culture(MLK Africa etc) but all that is long gone now and i dont think it will ever come back :( :( :(
  25. no it would be racist if you group all black people as ghetto.
  26. no your not its called freedom of choice
  27. how is it raciest you just dont like rap and stuff its not like theres only one race that raps and lives in the getto
  28. ok you don't like the stuff they wear or what they say. if you don't like that then that's not racist, it is if you don't like them as indiviguals then that's racist
  29. No, that's not racist at all. There are white people who go for the same style. Personally, I don't understand why anyone would want to act and look like someone who lives in poverty. The only reason people in real ghettos act and dress that way is because they would get shot otherwise. My mom works with people in poverty every day, it's not a pretty scene.
  30. No. lol
  31. Of course its not.
  32. Since when is it wrong to be put off by crudeness, vulgarity, and hate? Seek out people who are supportive, who share your interests and goals. They are out there, and don't worry about the rest.
  33. No you are not racist...and I can not really judge what you are just because you have some dislikes. But for you to consider yourself black and white tells you that you are not certain as of yet what you relate to or what you like. But your statement does seem a little harsh. To say you do not like rap/hip hop is one thing but to say that you do not like the ghetto/gangsta rap scene is another. Which one is it? Do you not like Hard core Rap/Hip Hop or just dislike rap/hip hop period? Because not all rap is gangster or hard core or even ghetto. There may be stories told about things in these subjects. But not all rappers are gangster. Hence --Ka'naan, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, Common, Will-I-Am, blackalicious and I can keep going... You have to be more explanatory in your question because you can come a little racist if you project the question this way. do you mean black men who act this way or do you mean people in general who act this way? Be more specific or keep your comments to yourself. You may come off being nasty to your peers.
  34. No. I think it is stupid when you see someone who can't afford their bills but have the gold grill and 50 gold chains around their neck, it doesn't matter their skin color. I don't know how many people I've seen trying to get a job with their sagging pants around their knees, maybe just need an excuse not to work. ("I tried and tried but nobody will hire me")
  35. . Well . . . IF it's limited to precisely just what you described, then of course not. Heck, even brothers and sisters don't always agree on music and fashion. Doesn't mean they hate their sibs - Oops, sorry, you don't like rap - siblings. Remember, people of ANY color will never totally agree on something as personal as music and fashion. Ironically, assuming so may be quite racist or, more accurately, classic stereotyping. . . Cheers. . .
  36. how can you be racist against your own race, you are black.but no tht is not bein racist, its just not your style.
  37. It's definitely not racist. However, hip-hop is very relevant. A good percentage of gangsta rappers rap about their adolescence, and the things they did prior to selling records. It's a part of American culture that should not be overlooked. Their environments are filled with violence, poverty and high incarceration rates. It would be different if they were just making stuff up, but they are simply telling the truth as they see it. Being gangsta is a defense mechanism. In those places it's either that or feel like a victim. My hat goes off to the people that escaped that way of life to become upstanding citizens, but my heart goes out to those that were not strong enough to do so. Gansta rap, ebonics and our swag is something that we created and many people love it. You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. One love...
  38. Hello 19, Mixed & a Proud Virgin I wouldn't say you're in any way racist just because you don't like any particular scene or way of self expression. When you stop and reflect on their conduct or behaviour, their dialect or slanguage. Does it depict their "Roots" or ethnic origins in any way? Of course it doesn't.
