Rap Lyrics?
When I was in high school, a police officer came to my class one day. We were allowed to ask him a lot of different questions. Finally, one student asked him, "Do you think certain types of rap music, like the song, Cop Killer, should be banned?" The officer said no, people should be allowed to listen to any kind of music they want. Your thoughts?

- As long as no one calls the cops "nappy headed"
- I HATE rap "music" - in fact I don't think rap is music at all. That being said - I am an American and that means I must defend other people's rights to piss me off. No matter how much I disagree with somebody, I will fight to the death their right to speak against me.
- unfortunatly there is a thing called "freedom of speech" however i thought there was also something called " hate laws" // so heres another question,, " if there are hate laws, why are rappers still allowed .to sing about killing cops and white people"..
- we live in a free world, don't we ? lol
- the thing about it is, there is freedom of speech, and of course it sux to hear someone say oh im gonna kill a cop on a song, but it's their right, just like anyone elses right to sing about any random thing in any genre of music, rap isn't the only type of music talking about killing people....or things...those are my thoughts.
- Canada has no free speech. But in the United States (ideally) as long as speech doesn't insight others to commit violence it is OK. I'm OK with free speech, but the song was kind of asking for harassment by the pigs.
- Hey, the left the 'C' off of rap and the 'S' out of "top forty hit". I hate rap also but I think others have a right to listen to it no matter how asinine the lyrics are. God knows some people probably have a problem with the lyrics to some of the stuff I listen to. But I grew up listening to Black Sabbath. So I look at it is a live and let live type thing. Don't tell me what music to listen to, what god to pray to, what politician to vote for, what color to paint my house, etc. and I will return the favor. I do think it is sad how people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton fuel the fire that infringes on people's right while perched on their platform of civil liberties and equality. But lets not get off on a tangent.
- People should be allowed to listen to any kind of music they want. That is guaranteed by the First Amendment.
- Rap 'music' is evil. All it does is talk about violence, disrespecting any law or authority, abusing woman and being an anti-social part of society. I love America and its freedoms, so I do not believe it should be outlawed... but only the intelligent will see one day how it has infected the lives of those who seek to live out the lyrics!
