Pure Rap

How does hip hop and gangsta rap influence the multiple, conflicting identities within gang members?

Public Comments

  1. it helps keep them all ignorant and combative
  2. Every reaction we have is caused by the way we perceive things. It's possible to listen to rap music and stand by what you believe in. If you're shaky in your beliefs than anything, not only rap music can cause negative influences. Some kids are influenced by their parents to be violent or even some Gothic or rock songs. It all depends on you.
  3. hip hop rarely influences gang culture its gangsta rap that does thats why they are seperate genres. and they influence kids and people to join gangs be cause they show what they have and tell storys of what they have seen and make it look as if its something to strive to be. And that if your not a gangster, drug dealer or mac your a nobody. and since black and latino kids cant really identify with rich prosperous white people who live on the other side of town they look infront of them and see some guy who came up from nothing to having a nice car lots of ladies nice clothes and good food to eat. its sugar coated to the fullest.
  4. Well most rappers are in gangs (lil wayne, the game, gucci mane, etc) and when rap about their gang and thug life their jus showing the dislikes, likes, and what it is like to be a thug. 26N!!! TWO-SIX DS. ALK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  5. It keeps them stupid and violent!!!
